11 March 2016 patch
The following patch was deployed on 11 March 2016.
The plan was to allow the update to sit in the public beta branch for a few days to make sure no major crashes were occurring, or if they were that we could get them resolved before wide release. While we’ve found the build to be stable for most machines, we are working through some crash issues that have popped up, seemingly related to outside driver updates.
During the public beta we asked our players to submit not just bug reports, but also feedback on the new changes. We’ve gathered some great feedback this week, and while we plan on making tweaks and adjustments, much of our team will be attending GDC next week. We didn’t want to withhold the build for longer than we initially planned, so we're going to roll our the Antiquarian today and look to make further adjustments and tuning changes upon our return.
We are seeing great discussions in the community - keep it coming! With the added players to the update we can get even more feedback, and also will give players time to really sink into the new character and features.
For everyone who opted in to the “coming_in_hot” beta you can now safely switch out of the BETA and your save will carry forward.
If you are experiencing a crash...
Try running Steam as an administrator or Try running Darkest Dungeon as an administrator:
If you are seeing issues with Steam and Steam games, please try the following: Exit from Steam. Right click the Steam.exe from C:\Program Files\Steam or your default location and choose the "Run as Administrator" option to launch Steam. The option may not work with a Desktop shortcut to Steam so be sure to use the direct Steam.exe. This process is not permanent. If this corrects your issue, you can continue to launch Steam in this manner or upgrade your Windows User account to Administrator status.
Try running the game via the build script Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon\_windows\Darkest_1920x1080.js
Also: Try opting in and opting out of the steam client beta and seeing if the regular game crashes.
