The Cauldron is an enemy which is always encountered alongside The Hag. It is largely passive, but a key component of this encounter.

Behavior[ | ]

The Cauldron will always spawn occupying the first 2 ranks during the boss fight, while the Hag lurks behind it on the 3rd and 4th Rank.

With 100% PROT and high health, the Cauldron is also completely invincible — successfully landed hits will trigger an IMMUNE! and deal no damage, and trigger no effects. This lasts until the Hag uses her "Into The Pot!" ability, which puts the targeted Hero into the Cauldron. When a Hero is inside the Cauldron, it becomes vulnerable to attacks, during which the Hero will also suffer damage equal to 8.75% of his/her max HP after any action on any turn is performed. The Cauldron will tip over and release the Hero into the front rank of your party either when it is reduced to 0 HP, or if the Hero inside falls to 0 HP and enters Death's Door. When the Hag dies, the Cauldron will also be destroyed, and anyone still inside will be automatically released.

Fleeing from the fight while a Hero is inside the Cauldron will result in the death of the Hero.

Prior to the Shieldbreaker patch, it was possible to destroy the Cauldron, removing it from battle with no ill effects.

Strategy[ | ]

Generally speaking, it's best to ignore the pot and focus all your attacks on the Hag. However, it may be wise to tip over the Cauldron prematurely if the Hag placed your main damage dealer inside — in that case, free them and hope the Hag takes someone else the next time she uses "Into the Pot!".

If you are expecting to keep adventuring after defeating the Hag, or are encountering the Hag in the Endless Harvest, a more conservative approach may be prudent — in this case, attacks that hit both the cauldron and the Hag would be ideal.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Regardless of which class is sent into the cauldron, the hands and dialogue of the cooking hero will always be the same.
